The team will review past child fatalities to better understand risk factors and develop prevention strategies that help children in Chelan and Douglas Counties grow up healthy, safe, and thriving. CDHD invites behavioral health providers and community partners to join a new coalition. Anyone who works with individuals and families during the perinatal period is welcome. We are seeking a diverse group of members to bring a variety of perspectives.
Taskforce members will meet quarterly to share insight and help strengthen perinatal mental health support in our region. Current priorities include:
Launching a local perinatal support group (funded by the Nurse-Family Partnership program)
Developing a community resource and referral guide
Hosting a “Perinatal Mental Health 101” community training
Emergencies can happen at any time. Families caring for their children or youth with special healthcare needs may need additional assistance during an emergency. One way to prepare is by registering your special needs child in your county’s vulnerable persons registry. This lets first responders know about your child’s specific needs ahead of time, helping them respond more quickly and appropriately during a natural disaster or evacuation.
